YOUTH REVIVAL MASS CHOIR
31st August 2024 to 1st September 2024 at Washington DC, US
Our History
In June 1986, Pastor Joseph White requested the assistance of Minister Daniel Russell, Jr. in planning
revival services to be conducted in New York City. The revival was designed to interest and uplift
believers, especially young people. Minister Russell solicited young adults from the Gospel Spreading
Church and its affiliates who were willing to minister in music and the spoken word.
In terms of numbers, the response from the young people was only moderate. This small, spirited, happy group of young people sang and witnessed with an unprecedented divine anointing. The group was blessed with holy cohesiveness. There was created within their hearts a burning desire to continue to sing and minister in this way. They were not only meeting new friends and fellow worshippers, but were also delighted to bear and share one another's burdens.
Because of the bond which developed among these young people, it became apparent that a formal organization should be established. At that time, group membership was approximately 120 and represented churches in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and New York. As new members were welcomed into the choir, they were informed of the righteous principles on which the choir was founded. Its rudiment was and still is the Word of God.
The ministry was based on more than song. Every song the choir sang was a reflection of their belief in the Word of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The leaders encouraged all participants to study their Bibles daily, to keep in close communication with the Lord, to live daily for Him and be faithful in the work of their local church.
Since the inception of the choir, their ministry has expanded in various spheres. Their founder and friend, Pastor Daniel Russell, Jr., has moved on to yet another ministry, but through it all, they are still holding on. The choir has collectively decided to surrender their all to God, for He has given them a forthright charge to lift up the name of Jesus. During the last five years, the Lord has called many members to different fields of endeavor. Some are pastors, some are teachers, some are youth leaders, some are ministers, but the common goal is to lift up the name of the Lord.
This Holy Ghost filled choir is still thriving in the work of the Lord. God's anointing is ever present in their
rehearsals, revivals, and other ministries. They have been involved in many church ~nd community
service activities such as:
- Trips to Orange County, Virginia to participate in song in their annual Orange County Community Day,
This year the choir is taking on yet another venture. Through the unction of the Holy Ghost, in August of this year, the choir will begin a “Victory Tour” to the various branches of the Gospel Spreading Church.
“Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.”
Psalm 150:6
One could often hear Elder Daniel Russell, Jr. quote that scripture to the Youth Revival Mass Choir. The choir with a loud shout would readily say, “Praise the Lordi” Elder Daniel Russell, Jr. had a message for the young people. That message was, “You’re never too young to give God some praise.” He wanted to take this message to all the young people of the Gospel Spreading Churches of God because the young people had a very special place in his heart.
Elder Russell was given a vision from on High to start
a work for God dealing with young people. Even though this work wasn’t easy to get started, Elder Russell Jr. was right there. It took days, nights, planning, praying, fasting and much encouragement to start a youth ministry. Praise God that his efforts were not in vain and his vision became a reality! That reality is known today as the Youth Revival Mass Choir.
Down through the years, the choir depended on him a great deal. He was their critic, spiritual leader, shelter, transportation, food and most of all, their friend. He was there during the conception, infancy, and the adolescent stages of the choir. Since God has called him to a greater and higher calling, the choir has started to lean and depend more on Jesus. For the Bible says “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1 :6).
Elder Daniel Russell, Jr. is presently in the U.S. Marine Corps and is the pastor of the New Life Deliverance Temple. He resides in Beaufort, S.C. with his lovely wife, Judy. Elder Russell, Jr. is still on the battlefield for the Lord. He is a young man that God is using in a mighty way. Even in South Carolina, he is spreading the Good News that Jesus saves, keeps, delivers and completely satisfies in this present world.
Truly, the choir thanks God for sending a man of God by the name of Elder Daniel Russell, Jr. their way. The choir knows and believes that God uses plain ordinary people to carry out His will. PRAISE THE LORD!!
